WHOT! Game Rules

Game Components

The WHOT! deck consists of 54 special cards, featuring five different suits (Circle, Triangle, Cross, Square, Star), along with some special action cards.

Note: Star cards are scored double points during scoring.

Game Objective

The objective of the game is to be the first player to discard all their cards within the given time, or the player with the fewest points in their remaining cards when time runs out wins.

Game Setup

  1. Shuffling and Dealing: The dealer deals 5 cards to each player, and the remaining deck is placed face down as the draw pile.
  2. Starting Card: The dealer flips the top card from the draw pile to begin the discard pile.

Scoring

When a player has discarded all their cards, the game ends, and the remaining players calculate their scores based on the cards left in their hands:

Special Action Cards

Card Function
1 HOLD ON: The current player gets another turn.
2 PICK TWO: The next player must either play another two or draw two cards from the stock instead. If two or more consecutive players play twos, the first player who does not play a two must draw two cards for each consecutive two that was played. After cards have been drawn for the two(s), the next player can play any legal card.
5 PICK THREE: The next player must either play another five or draw three cards from the stock. If two or more consecutive players play fives, the first player who does not play a five must draw three cards for each consecutive five that was played. After the cards have been drawn for the five(s), the next player may play any legal card.
8 SUSPENSION: The next player misses a turn.
14 GENERAL MARKET: All players except the person who played the 14 must immediately draw one card from the stock.
whot WHOT: Playing a Whot card cancels any active Pick Two or Pick Three draw effects.the player must name a suit.
